Snow Day
Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a good holiday season so far. It snowed quite heavily in Richmond today and most everything has shut down for the night. I had some PTO I needed to burn, so I was already off, but it’s been great to hole up inside the house and grab some r and r. I’ve had quite the pleasant day: working on my screenplay, reading, and making dinner. I feel rested and ready for the craziness of the weeks ahead.
A huge thank you to all the support I’ve gotten over the last several weeks. I had two book events within six days of each other and then, just a few days ago, I was down at the Richmond Public Library with my friend Mushin Knott (she’s a young adult author, check her out!), selling and signing books in the lobby for a few hours. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have known about any of these events, so I’m really indebted to her for reaching out and letting me know about these opportunities.
A huge thank you, as well, to Shelf Life Books in Carytown. They carry my books in their local author section, I’m just honored as all hell about that. And they really came through for me a few weeks ago. I sold so many books at the Strangeways event in early November that I was in danger of coming up empty for my next event, in just six days. Not a bad problem to have! But a problem nonetheless. When it became clear that my distributor would not be able to get me a fresh batch of books in time, I reached out to Shelf Life and ‘borrowed’ my books for the event, it worked out swimmingly! Thank you, Shelf Life Books!!
As I mentioned before, I’m running a giveaway. Details below!!
And I’m trying a fun new marketing idea!
I’ve always been a fan of band fliers, the kind my friends would make at Kinko’s in the 90s for punk shows. Mismatched lettering, inventive design. Lately, I’ve been wanting to try and market my books with that kind of energy. So I’ve put together a flier that evokes the front page of a 1940s newspaper. I’ve even tacked up a few already!

I’m planning to keep them in the car, along with my trusty stapler, and tack them up around town wherever I think they’ll stand out. If you happen to see one when you’re out and about, please let me know!
Take care of yourself this holiday season!! Hug your friends, love your family, and don’t overspend! Until next time — clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.
